In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, an ambitious group of residents from CareLink’s STAR 1 program decided to form a team, The Wellness Warriors, to participate in NAMIWalks Montgomery County. The agency is pleased to announce that The Wellness Warriors raised $100 for NAMIWalks and took part in the walk, held on the campus of Montgomery County Community College on May 6.
The STAR 1 residents understand how impactful community connection, socialization, and exercise are for mental wellness, so they took the opportunity to interact with peers, dance, and walk to promote mental health for all at the 5K event, one of dozens of NAMIWalks held across the United States in 2023.
NAMIWalks are designed to increase awareness about individuals with mental health challenges and raise funds for National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) organizations. As of this May, 5,097 NAMIWalks teams across the country have collectively raised nearly $8.7 million in 2023.
