CareLink Community Support Services, “Building Community Through the Arts”, program is pleased to present our Artists and their work. This exhibition features artwork in a variety of medium’s, from acrylics to fused glass to collage, created by individuals participating in the services of CareLink Community Support Services Art Workshops. Through their work, the artists featured in this show reveal that their talents are multidimensional and that they are neither limited nor defined by their illness.
Come join the members of iCare and CareLink. Get involved and help de-stigmatize mental illness. Caterers: Han Dynasty, Aneau Catering, and Insomnia Cookies.
To get there… The address is 249 S. 36th Street Philadelphia, PA 19104 This part of 36th Street is not open to car traffic. It is a walkway only. So you must park on Walnut Street near 36th Street or at a parking garage. The two closest parking garages are:
- Sheraton University City, 55 South 36th Street, between Chestnut St. and Ludlow St. (enter off 36th St.)
- University of Pennsylvania Garage #30, 3713 Walnut Street, between 37th St and 38th St. (enter off Walnut St. or 38th St.)
After you park, walk to Walnut and 36st St. and go south along 36th St. onto the walkway. (If you are coming from the Sheraton, just keep walking in the same direction you came down 36th St. If you are coming from the U of P garage, take a right onto the 36st St. walkway.) Stay to your left on the walkway to go past the construction. You will need to walk almost to Spruce St. Look for the sign for Claudia Cohen Hall on your left – the sign includes the 249 South 36th Street address. Go up the stairs into the building. (If needed, the wheelchair accessible entrance is on the far right side of the building.) Go down the stairs to the lower level. Take a left at the bottom of the stairs and look for the entrance doors to the Fox Art Gallery on your right. (If you entered through the accessible entrance, the gallery is on your left.)
For the past seven years a group of 10 freshmen at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania has partnered with CareLink on a semester long project. Team iCare’s mission is to bring people from the Penn Campus and beyond to an art exhibition that showcases the person, not the diagnosis. Many pieces of art in this exhibition were created in workshops funded through a grant from The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
