Zach Burrell and Taron Brown, two residents at CareLink’s STAR 1 program, recently took part in a basketball league organized by Carousel House Parks & Recreation Philadelphia.
At the conclusion of their season on March 6, both players were acknowledged with special awards in addition to participation recognition. Zach, a fierce competitor who always brings energy and strives to perform at a high level, received the league’s “Hustle Award” for ambitious and assertive playing. Taron Brown, recipient of the “Leadership Award” for encouraging and helping team members stay motivated, is enthusiastic about helping his team be successful, cheering them on, and providing enduring and non-judgmental support.

Each of these men exhibit a positive mental attitude, motivation, integrity, accountability, and a willingness to work collaboratively with others toward a common goal, making them an asset to any team. CareLink and staff at the STAR 1 program are excited to announce that Zach and Taron will also be representing the agency in the 45th Annual Special Olympics Philadelphia Spring Games in April!
