CareLink opened our newest residence for individuals living with an intellectual disability. Three gentlemen moved into their new home in Chester County and were greeted by Program Supervisor Roderick Bookard and the home’s residential counselors. This marks the beginning of a new journey for the men living in this home and staff are excited to support them in their exploration of the new resources and opportunities their new community will offer.
Getting this home ready was a great challenge that took plenty of time, planning, work and patience. This new home was purchased in the spring of 2014. The home required massive rehabilitation and extensive landscaping. After the renovations were completed and the home furnishings set up, the PA licensing entity, the Bureau of Human Services Licensing could be invited to visit the property. This spring the residential program received its license and CareLink could then work with the three men to transition to their new home. Today, the gentlemen are settled in and everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July with a barbeque in their backyard.
