The annual NAMIWalks Greater Philadelphia will be a little different this year. Instead of hosting its traditional 5k walk, the NAMIWalks organization is making the safety and health of the community a top priority by inviting supporters to take part in NAMIWalks Greater Philadelphia Your Way, a virtual walk, on May 30.
In an effort to stay safe and help limit the spread of COVID-19, NAMIWalks Greater Philadelphia Your Way invites teams and individuals to raise funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) by walking at home–around the block, garden, kitchen, or wherever they practice self-isolation.
NAMIWalks held in the United States are designed to increase awareness about individuals with mental health challenges and raise funds for NAMI organizations. Proceeds from NAMIWalks Greater Philadelphia fund NAMI Montgomery County education and support programming that addresses mental the health needs of community members, replaces stigma with understanding, and helps thousands of families and individuals each year.
In 2019, NAMIWalks across the country collectively raised over $12.2 million for mental heath support, education, advocacy, and public awareness. Details and updates about the NAMIWalks Greater Philadelphia Your Way are available online at NAMIMontcoPA.org/nami-walk.
